I am a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). I have had a life-long interest and interaction with trees. The Essence of Trees initially grew out of a need I saw for proper care in young trees. Trees are often planted and then forgotten until years later when a limb breaks or the tree looks unhealthy. Then I receive a call to come and help the tree. Upon seeing the tree I find that had a few small corrections been made at the time of planting or as the tree was growing then many larger problems could have been avoided.

The best treatment and care for trees is preventative.

Quality tree care in the first five years of a tree’s life improves its vitality and appearance many-fold for the coming decades of its existence. This approach is more cost-effective for the owner and increases property value as the tree matures in beauty and size.

Trees in urban settings are not like other landscape plants. They are generally larger and live longer than most plants. They impact a site differently creating cooling shade, ambiance or a visual focus. Trees have different requirements in soil conditions, space to grow, pruning styles, and water needs.

Attention to these differences requires knowledge and skill. As a certified arborist I integrate the art and science of arboriculture to bring the best care possible to trees. I assist individuals, homeowners and businesses in the care of their trees. I work with wineries and non-profit, land-holding organizations and willingly collaborate with construction and landscape architects and contractors on project requirements involving trees.

a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA), and a graduate from the Consulting Academy.

maintains membership with Tree Care Industry of America (TCIA), and California Arborist Association (CAA).

Certified Wildlife Protector trained through the Wildlife Training Institute (WTI).
